Assigning Tasks to Roles |
|
Before you begin this task:
- You must have the role of a systemAdmin or organizationalAdmin.
- Create a task.
Tasks refer to the independent activities. You can assign one or more tasks to a role. By assigning tasks, you can prescribe the set of activities that you can associate with the role. Further, this role after being assigned to a user governs the activities that the user can perform. Hence, the user actions are bound to the tasks that are assigned to a role. Alternatively, tasks can be assigned to users directly. You can assign tasks to roles in multiple forms as described below:
Go to CUSP > My Applications, click (User Manager) and select Roles - Tasks view in the User Manager window.
- To assign single task to single role, do the following:
- Select a role in the Roles pane.
- Select a task in the Task pane.
- Right-click the <Task> and click Assign to Selected Role(s). Required task is assigned to the selected role.
- To assign multiple tasks to a single role, do the following:
- Select a role in the Roles pane
- Select multiple tasks in the Tasks pane, right-click them and click Assign to Selected Role(s).
Remember
- A task may involve multiple sub-tasks or sub-activities to complete an activity. In case of such tasks, you are prompted with the list of sub-tasks in Configure TaskParts dialog box. Select the sub-tasks you intend to associate with the role and click OK.
- If you wish to edit the sub-task assignment for a role, right-click the task and select Configure option through which you can change your selection of sub-tasks.
- Sub-tasks are also referred as Task Parts.
- You cannot assign tasks to Application Roles or SystemAdmin Role, as these roles cannot be modified.
- You can assign task(s) to role(s) by dragging the selected task(s) in the Tasks pane and dropping them on to the selected role(s) in the Roles pane.
- Select Include internal roles option to view internal roles such as everyone role.
Important In the previous versions of Process Platform, the role-based menus were available when the user launches the Explorer. Simulating this concept of menus, Process Platform offers role-based tasks, where some or all the applications are visible and accessible on CUSP depending on the role of a user. For more information about tasks, refer to Overview of Tasks.
The required tasks are assigned to the selected role.
